Jewelries For Men

July 31, 2009

It seems like men are not averse to wearing bright blings these days, which includes gold chains or bangles, and even earrings. Just check out P. Diddy or this dude here and you will know what I mean.

Gold Chains

While all these are cool as casual clothing, we do not advise wearing them on a formal setting. Imagine the horror your boss will get if he sees you wearing large gold chains to work on your black suit.

There are many other ways to accessorize with blings and still be suitable for the office wear. A pair of gold cufflinks, for example is bling and yet still stylish and presentable. Certain office or industries may tolerate men with earrings or a light chain. Be sure that know the culture of the place you are working before deciding to come to office looking like a rapper!

Asia’s Demand For Cufflinks Will Overtake The West

July 27, 2009

Multicolor CufflinksAs you may already know, China and India are currently the two most populous countries in the world. According to IDB, China’s population was around 1.34b while India was around 1.17b. Putting things in perspective, the United States which is the 3rd most populous country in the world, has only 3.1m residents.

The same site revealed that there are 7 Asian countries in the top 10 of the world’s most populous countries. The remaining 3 are US, Brazil and Nigeria.

Having a large population does not guarantee that the demand of cufflinks from these countries will be high. That is because cufflinks are considered luxury items. Most of the people in emerging countries are more occupied with basic necessities like food and healthcare.

But in the recent years, we have seen some of these countries’ economy expanding at a very rapid pace. China is now the 3rd largest economy in the world after US and Japan. According to many studies, it is a matter of time before the Chinese will be 2nd and eventually 1st. Similarly, India’s economy have also been growing significantly and will continue to do so in the near future.

Yin Yang CufflinksWith a growing and expanding economy, there will be more wealthy people in these countries. As such, their spending behavior will shift from basic necessities to luxury goods. One luxury item that is expected to be in demand is the cufflinks.

In fact, the chinese and indians are already two of the largest manufacturers of cufflinks in the world. It is therefore very easy for their citizens to be acquainted the accessory.

Watch out for these Asian countries with large population. I believe the demand for cufflinks from them will exceed that of the West pretty soon.

Women Are Taking The Cufflinks By Storm

July 25, 2009

Not too long ago, it was hard to find a woman who wore cufflinks. As the main wearers of cufflinks back then were men, cufflinks designers tailored their designs to suit their targeted market. The popularity of novelty cufflinks further pushed cufflinks designs to the masculine side, with designs like the skull and crossbone cufflinks, or the harley davidson motorbike cufflinks.

However, of late we see many ladies adopting cufflinks as part of their plethora of accessories. In order to cater to this new group of consumers, designers have started designing cufflinks with a feminine touch to them. Take for example a pair of Hello Kitty cufflinks. This was definitely designed for the ladies as no man would want to be seen wearing them! Other ladies cufflinks are like the Swarovski crystals heart shaped cufflinks, or the cute doggy cufflinks.

Orange The Corporate Color Of Cufflinks2Wear

July 23, 2009

You may have realized by now, orange is the official color of Cufflinks2Wear.com. The reason this color was chosen is because of the brightness and vibrancy it portrays. Orange can be produced by mixing red with yellow. Therefore, orange combines the energy or red and the happiness of yellow.

The color orange is usually associated with sunshine, or the tropics. It also represents joy, enthusiasm, happiness, success, attraction and fascination. One of the reasons for choosing orange as our corporate color is that it is highly visible and therefore can catch a person’s attention easily.

Orange cufflinks are suitable for the thoughtful and highly successful career man. He is always enthusiastic with the things he is involved in and his level of fascination and curiosity is most unique about him.

It is also thought that wearing orange during stressful periods can help balance a person’s emotions. It will bring forth the willingness to embrace new ideas, encourage creativity and also create a feeling of happiness.

Matching Your Cufflinks

July 21, 2009

CufflinksMany people have asked me about the correct way of matching your cufflinks to your entire attire. Despite having worn cufflinks for many years, I decided to go online to gather as much information as I can on this topic.

Not surprisingly, most of the thoughts and ideas are similar. Here, I will summarize some of my findings.

1. Before you even think of matching your cufflinks, you need to select the right type of cufflinks for the occasion. For example, you should not wear funny but inappropriate novelty cufflinks when you are attending a formal event. Wear a pair of elegant and stylish cufflinks instead.

2. As much as you can, try to match your cufflinks to these clothing item, listed here in the order of importance.

a. Shirt. Try to have some color contrast between your cufflinks and your shirt, so that the cufflinks can stand out.

b. Necktie. The color tone of your cufflinks should be close to your necktie.

c. Wristwatch. Try to match the base color of your cufflinks to the wristwatch’s color. If the color of your watch is silver, then a pair of silver cufflinks will go well with it. Never wear a pair of green cufflinks with a gold watch!

d. Belt. Generally, the rule on wristwatch should be applied to the belt buckle as well. Do your best to match the cufflinks color to your belt buckle’s color.

Using these simple rules, you can be sure that you dress code will be impeccable and stylish wherever you go.

Silver (Cufflinks) Is The New Black

July 9, 2009

Remember not too long ago, when black was the “in” color. We have black makeup for the gothic trend; black cars with black tinted windows for the mafias, or the rich and famous; and even black jewelries like earrings or necklaces for the young and trendy.

But now there seems to be a swing in color preference. It’s no longer black, but silver. Hence, as the saying goes, silver is the new black.

Look at the different automobiles out there. Most new ones are silver in color. Even silver jewelries are more trendy theses days. We have silver necklaces, silver earrings and silver cufflinks. A pair of finely polished silver cufflinks together with the right French cuffs shirt and suit can be a strong fashion statement for any man wearing them.

Silver CufflinksSilver in its purest form is too soft to be made into cufflinks. As such, it is usually mixed with copper in the ratio of 92.5% silver to 7.5% copper to make sterling silver. This alloy is harder than pure silver and has a lower melting point at 893°C compared to pure silver.

Sterling silver cufflinks are some of the most sought after cufflinks these days. Not only are they highly fashionable, they are also great as gifts. Their price can range from as little as $50 to more than $1000, depending on the finishing and also whether there are any other items added on the cufflinks such as precious stones or gold.

However, what’s important when it comes to choosing your cufflinks, is that you must be comfortable with it. You don’t have to choose the most expensive pair, just to show off to people you don’t care about. Pay attention to the design and finishing of the cufflinks. Brands may be important to some people, but to most people, a pair of cufflinks is a pair of cufflinks.

If you like some jewels on it, perhaps it would be wise to choose a pair with Swarovski crystals instead of diamonds as the former is much cheaper but still gives almost the same amount of glitter.

Roger Federer The Greatest Tennis Player Of All Time

July 6, 2009

Roger Federer surpassed Pete Sampras as the greatest tennis player after he won his 15th Grand Slam title at Wimbledon. His match against Andy Roddick was a classic which ended at 5-7, 7-6 (8-6), 7-6 (7-5), 3-6, 16-14. The last set was also the longest ever played in a men’s Wimbledon final.

However, the title did not come easy for Federer who had to battle long and hard for it. At one point, Roddick led by a set, had 4 set points in the second set and didn’t drop serve until the final game.

With this win, Federer moved back to claim the world No. 1 spot from Rafael Nadal.

Bond, James Bond

July 1, 2009

My name is Bond, James Bond. We have all heard that phrase many times from various actors who have played the fictitious character created by Ian Fleming in 1953. The James Bond character made its first appearance on the large screen in 1962 with Dr. No. Sean Connery, who was the first actor that played Bond is considered the most successful and best fit. In fact, some argue that the Bond character was tailored to suit Connery. Sean Connery went on to play the 007 character for another 6 movies after Dr. No.

The  Secret Intelligence Service agent is considered one of the most suave character on screen. His dress code usually consists of a plain white shirt and with a dark suit and pants, coupled with a bow tie and a pair of cufflink. His mannerism is that of a gentleman and women are naturally attracted to him. His favorite drink is the Martini, shaken, not stirred.

The last two Bond movie are considered somewhat darker and different from previous ones. For one, the Bond character played by Daniel Craig is tougher and rougher. He depends more on brute force compared to previous Bonds who prefered to use their intuition and charms. Most people actually prefer this new Bond image and I think there is a shift in preference in consumers’ taste for Bond.
