Independence Day

June 22, 2009

Fourth of July, aka Independence Day, is celebrated throughout the nation every year to commemorate the adoption of the Declaration of Independence on the same date in 1776. ThisĀ  year will mark our nation’s 233rd year of independence.

Some of the ways recorded in history on how United States celebrated Independence Day are as follows:

1. Back in 1777, on the 1st anniversary of the Declaration of Independence, 13 gunshots were fired first in the morning and then in the evening in Bristol, Rhode Island

2. In 1778, George Washington celebrated this day by giving his soldiers a double portion of rum and also with an artillery salute. God bless George Washington!

3. In 1931, Independence Day was made a paid federal holiday by Congress.

This year, celebrate this special day with a pair of US Flag cufflinks by Cufflinks2Wear.
