Pirates of the Caribbean is Back!

January 23, 2010

Yes! Woke up to this great news today! One of my favorite show of all time, Pirates of the Caribbean is back. Part 4, which will be called Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides, will be released in Summer 2011.

This will be a star-studded show. Not only will Johnny Depp be back, a whole new cast of stars will be featured here. Some of them are: John Travolta, Robert Zemeckis, Jerry Bruckheimer, Nicholas Cage and Miley Cyrus.

Wow! I can’t wait to watch it. I already have all 3 movies in Blu-ray. Will definitely watch it on the big screen and buy the Blu-ray version too.

In the meantime, I am going to wear my skull cufflinks for the next few days just as a conversation piece!

Personalized Cufflinks As Gift Ideas

August 2, 2009

Giving personalized cufflinks as gifts is a great idea as it shows that the giver has given enough thought about the gift. There are many ways you can personalized a pair of cufflinks. He could engrave a personal message on the cufflinks, such as “Congratulations On Your Wedding” to mark the momentous occasion. Alternatively, he could also personalize the cufflinks by print a sentimental picture on it to remind the recipient of an event or person.

A person receiving a personalized gift will definitely be more appreciative of the gift (here, we assume the gift was chosen wisely and correctly). He will also treasure it more and even use the item more often.

Extra thought could also be given to other aspect of the gift. If the person loves airplanes for example, the buyer could get a personalized airplane novelty cufflinks to add more oomph to the gift. Similarly, if the receiver has a favorite color, the gift could be tailored to the color of this choice.

In short, if you give it sufficient thought and are willing to put effort into buying the perfect gift, there is a high chance that your gift will have a significant impact on the recipient and he will remember it for a longer time.

Silver (Cufflinks) Is The New Black

July 9, 2009

Remember not too long ago, when black was the “in” color. We have black makeup for the gothic trend; black cars with black tinted windows for the mafias, or the rich and famous; and even black jewelries like earrings or necklaces for the young and trendy.

But now there seems to be a swing in color preference. It’s no longer black, but silver. Hence, as the saying goes, silver is the new black.

Look at the different automobiles out there. Most new ones are silver in color. Even silver jewelries are more trendy theses days. We have silver necklaces, silver earrings and silver cufflinks. A pair of finely polished silver cufflinks together with the right French cuffs shirt and suit can be a strong fashion statement for any man wearing them.

Silver CufflinksSilver in its purest form is too soft to be made into cufflinks. As such, it is usually mixed with copper in the ratio of 92.5% silver to 7.5% copper to make sterling silver. This alloy is harder than pure silver and has a lower melting point at 893°C compared to pure silver.

Sterling silver cufflinks are some of the most sought after cufflinks these days. Not only are they highly fashionable, they are also great as gifts. Their price can range from as little as $50 to more than $1000, depending on the finishing and also whether there are any other items added on the cufflinks such as precious stones or gold.

However, what’s important when it comes to choosing your cufflinks, is that you must be comfortable with it. You don’t have to choose the most expensive pair, just to show off to people you don’t care about. Pay attention to the design and finishing of the cufflinks. Brands may be important to some people, but to most people, a pair of cufflinks is a pair of cufflinks.

If you like some jewels on it, perhaps it would be wise to choose a pair with Swarovski crystals instead of diamonds as the former is much cheaper but still gives almost the same amount of glitter.

Roger Federer The Greatest Tennis Player Of All Time

July 6, 2009

Roger Federer surpassed Pete Sampras as the greatest tennis player after he won his 15th Grand Slam title at Wimbledon. His match against Andy Roddick was a classic which ended at 5-7, 7-6 (8-6), 7-6 (7-5), 3-6, 16-14. The last set was also the longest ever played in a men’s Wimbledon final.

However, the title did not come easy for Federer who had to battle long and hard for it. At one point, Roddick led by a set, had 4 set points in the second set and didn’t drop serve until the final game.

With this win, Federer moved back to claim the world No. 1 spot from Rafael Nadal.

Bond, James Bond

July 1, 2009

My name is Bond, James Bond. We have all heard that phrase many times from various actors who have played the fictitious character created by Ian Fleming in 1953. The James Bond character made its first appearance on the large screen in 1962 with Dr. No. Sean Connery, who was the first actor that played Bond is considered the most successful and best fit. In fact, some argue that the Bond character was tailored to suit Connery. Sean Connery went on to play the 007 character for another 6 movies after Dr. No.

The  Secret Intelligence Service agent is considered one of the most suave character on screen. His dress code usually consists of a plain white shirt and with a dark suit and pants, coupled with a bow tie and a pair of cufflink. His mannerism is that of a gentleman and women are naturally attracted to him. His favorite drink is the Martini, shaken, not stirred.

The last two Bond movie are considered somewhat darker and different from previous ones. For one, the Bond character played by Daniel Craig is tougher and rougher. He depends more on brute force compared to previous Bonds who prefered to use their intuition and charms. Most people actually prefer this new Bond image and I think there is a shift in preference in consumers’ taste for Bond.

Transformers Cuff Links

June 30, 2009

In all honesty, the 2nd Transformers Movie – Revenge of the Fallen – was more disappointing that the 1st. I had high hopes for this movie but instead it was not half as good as all the hype that came together with this movie.

What’s with Optimus Prime and a glowing sword?! Optimus does not have a sword. C’mon! Well at least the rivalry between Megatron and Starscream is true to the original cartoon, albeit a bit on the irritating level.

Don’t let me start on Devastator! He is supposed to be a combination of 5 Constructicon robots, which individually can transform into a construction vehicle or a robot by itself. Devastator is not a combination of 5 static vehicles!

I think too much emphasis was given to the CGI and as a result Michael Bay neglected the storyline. A good storyline is essential for a good movie. There is no alternative to that. Anything else, be it explosions, CGI or hot chicks should be secondary. Having said that, Megan Fox is HOT!

Now, even though I did not really like the movie, I am still a die hard Transformers fan. I have all the Transformers cartoons in DVDs and have watched every single episodes. I also have an Optimus Prime toy robot which I have kept since I was a child.

77th Anniversary of Superman

June 29, 2009

This year 2009, marks the 77th anniversary of Superman, aka The Man of Steel or The Last Son of Krypton. Created by Jerry Siegel and Joe Shuster, this superhero that is “faster than a speeding bullet, more powerful than a locomotive, and able to leap tall buildings in a single bound” have captured the imaginations of generations worldwide.

The story has that Superman was originally borned in a planet called Krypton. He was sent out to space by his father moments before their planet was destroyed in an explosion. His capsule somehow landed on Planet Earth, in Kansas to be exact and was adopted by a farmer and his wife who found him. They treated him as their own son and named him Clark Kent.

Clark began to show superhuman abilities as a boy and his parents had to painstakingly shield his identity from others in fears that Clark will be taken away from them. As a young adult, Clark started to use his abilities for the good of humankind. He was also romantically linked with Lois Lane, his colleague at the Daily Planet, where he worked as a reporter. Using his spectacles as a disguise, and also acting in a gentle and sometimes clumsy manner, Clark was able to hide his true identity as Superman.

In this tough economic times, how we wish Superman is here to right all the wrongs. In certain countries, crime rates have climbed significantly as more people are finding it hard to make ends meet. This disillusioned world definitely needs a Superhero in the mould of Superman.

Celebrate the 77th anniversary of Superman’s character with these Superman cufflinks.

Different Types of Bosses

June 27, 2009

What kind of boss do you have at work? Many people have told me that, it is highly important that you to have good and kind bosses. I can’t agree more to that. In my entire career life so far, I have had pretty decent and fair bosses. One thing I noticed about some of these successful bosses is that while they are kind, decent and fair, they are also firm when it comes to work-related issues.

There are many types of BAD bosses in this world. I can name quite a few just from the top of my head. The one that stands out most is the incompetent boss that does not know his stuffs and manage to get to that position either through connections or pure luck. They usually talk a lot and seem very busy or to be working very hard. However, most of the time, there are no substantial outputs from them. These bosses are impossible to work with and you will definitely be frustrated in no time.

The other bad boss that I can think of is the “I’m always right” boss. These bosses will not listen to you and even if they do, they are just going through the motion and have already decided that you are wrong even before you start your point. Sadly, you will have a hard time contributing to the company in this scenario and will also most likely be very frustrated in the end.

InventorSpot has a very funny take on the different types of bosses that exists. Read more about them here.

I Want My Porsche

June 23, 2009

PorscheMany of us can only dream of owning a Porsche. This luxury car originated from the city district of Stuttgart, in Germany. Founded in 1931 by Ferdinand Porsche, the company today produces the Boxster, Cayenne SUVs, 911 (997), and Cayman sports cars.

Porsche had won the J.D. Power and Associates survey on initial quality study from 2006-2008. However, in 2009 Porsche was placed 2nd, behind Lexus. The study evaluates cars based on problems reported per 100 vehicles, where a lower score equates to higher quality.

Golden PorscheOne of the most amazing and unique Porsche that I have found on the net is the one pictured on the left. You can read more about it here.

This is actually a 911 and covered with 40 lbs of pure gold! Yes, you got that right! The car was originally made in Russia.

Well, if you are looking for a Porsche, you should know where to get one. However, if you are looking for some accessories, perhaps a Porsche cufflinks, you can purchase it at Cufflinks2Wear.com at only $59. They also have many other car-related cufflinks for sale.
